Brandtastic & Pukka Pies
We have been privileged to work with Pukka Pies since 2015 and have worked on a very diverse range of projects for you, from packaging concepts to motion graphics and internal campaigns. Of course, we want to continue working with such a great brand as Pukka and with a change of CEO we thought it was a good opportunity to share a little summary of the work we have carried out for you.
Pukka & Mukka: 2017 HSE campaign
A fantastic project to work on and, from feedback, very well received. We were tasked with creating characters that would become the vehicle for an internal HSE campaign. They needed to engage the Pukka staff in a fun and informative way. Health and Safety can be a tough sell, but Pukka and Mukka were up to the task. Brandtastic designed and produced a launch video, posters and 3D cutouts to deliver the campaign.

With the re-brand now implemented and having produced several animated videos for Pukka in the past, we were again called upon to create a motion-graphics video. Working with the new brand guidelines, we also created our own graphics as well as writing the script and storyboard, to produce an engaging and very well received animation.
Core Range Pitch
Back in 2016, we were honoured to be invited to take part in a pitch for the redesign of Pukka’s core range packaging, up against some industry heavyweights. We were naturally disappointed not to have won through, however, were told we had come a very close second and the feedback we received was very positive and we learned a lot from the process as a whole.
New product line concepts
In late 2015, our first commision from Pukka was to develop and experiment with brand concepts and packaging for a potential new product range. The Star Pies and Sausage rolls were to be best-of-British, hand crimped and have an artisan feel, with the intention of attracting a new customer base; targeting a younger, trendier demographic – more foodie and encourage them to trade up to a more premium product. A requirement of the brief was to create x3 very diverse design routes, of which a selection is shown below.

We were asked to create packaging designs to reflect new, limited edition, international flavours. We had to work within the parameters of the (then) current design but to push its boundaries to achieve stand-out on shelf. Pukka decided to launch the Philly Cheesesteak, Balti Chicken and Mexican Beef Chilli lines – all of which sold very well according to our feedback.
Year overviews and future plans: Motion Graphics Video and Infographics
Before the rebrand, we were asked to work on some internal comms (something we are carving out a reputation for with some big brands). From basic statistics provided, we wrote scripts, storyboarded, designed and produced the animated videos and then converted that creative work into static infographics for use in presentations and other comms around head office.
Last Christmas we gave you a card! (isn’t that a song?) One of the design routes from the pitch was identified by someone in the Pukka team as having great potential for a card, we agreed and produced a lovely gold foil card for you – replete with Christmas Pie pun!
